31 Days #9: How to Keep It Fresh?

by Lain Ehmann on July 9, 2012

Hello, scrappers! Today, we’ve got a great question from Jeannie L. She likes to use photo collages in her albums, but has one problem:

How do I keep my albums from looking repetitive?

Watch today’s video where I share my thoughts (maybe not what you think!) and leave your comments and questions below.

My favorite way to keep it “new” is to do challenges. Color challenges, scraplift challenges, sketch challenges, try new techniques and Lain’s A to Z class, really helped me to branch out and try new things, in new ways.

Thanks Lain for choosing and answering my question. You definitely gave me some insight and I’ll be trying to think out of that ‘storyboard box’ on my next LO. Kerri Bradford is my go-to for storyboard templates.

Love this series, Lain!  Your “why I scrapbook” page got me thinking…  Telling the story is important to me.   However, my journaling process needs help.  I like to draft the journaling, then let it age for a bit, and then I feel I am ready to “finalize” the story.  In theory it works, but my OCD brain is not ready to “publish” the story yet because of the wording, or the tone or it’s missing something.  Can you share your journaling process and offer any guidance?  I love how your journaling tells a story, conveys emotion and feels complete.

Again, I love the video!!! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. These topics are fantastic, and the information is wonderful. Take care. :)

Last year, Shimelle Laine did a whole year on 4 x 6 photos – using one in January, 2 in February and so on up to 12 in December.  It is on the Two Peas in a Bucket website under free classes.  She had lots of great ideas for scrapping 4 x 6 photos.

BTW, I am enjoying your videos, Lain – always very thoughtfully done!

That is very cool! That Shimelle – always up to something. :)

    Thank you, Kim! :)
