by Lain Ehmann on July 9, 2013

31 Days of Scrapbooking Questions - ANSWERED! http://www.layoutaday.comTimes change. People change. Hairlines and hemlines change. Should your scrapbook pages change to keep up with the times?

Today’s video talks about when you should — and shouldn’t — redo your scrapbook pages.

Remember, three ways to get your content this month:

If not my VERY first layout, this was really, really close… talk about sticker sneeze! But I LOVE IT. It’s like my daughter’s “potato people” drawings. It reminds me of how excited I was when I started scrapbooking and how I’d stay up until all hours of the day and night creating “masterpieces,” and then leave them on the dining room table for John to see in the morning.

Looking at this page is like falling in love with scrapbooking all over again. Will I ever redo it? NOT ON YOUR ORANGE-HANDLED SCISSORS, BABY!

I love it just the way it is. ;)

I too have gone back many times to look at my beginning of my scrap~booking passion and I would not redo anything. This is a part of the memories we aim to keep and preserve.

  • Angela

Great advice. I have learned so much since I started cardmaking and scrapbooking and my style has matured along the way too. I love looking at my first attempts with hand cut shapes because I didn’t have a die-cutting machine and my colours and layouts are not so refined as I believe them to be now. That’s part of the beauty of crafting there’s always new things to learn.

  • Colleen Hathaway

Oh you have made me want to go and look at my “firsts”!!!! I have still have BINDERS of stickers that I hoard, I don’t use, but I can’t get rid of them! I do let me kids use them tho, except the “good” ones LOL!

I think I might play a “You Show me Yours, I’ll show you mine” (layouts!!!) on my fan page page this week! You should stop by!!! https://www.facebook.com/pages/CBC-Scrapbooking/133078110098299?fref=ts

That would be so fun! I still love stickers. :) I remember collecting the Mrs. Grossmans stickers in elementary school. :)

  • LainEhmann

TOTALLY. It’s part of the journey!

  • LainEhmann

    YES! :)

  • Robin Perez

NEVER will I go back, mainly because I am “behind” as it is. I look back at the first ones from the early 80′s and think “You’ve come a long way baby”!!!

  • Danielle Taylor

I love looking back on older pages and thinking not only remember when my hair was like that or when I thought that outfit was cool but also I like seeing the scrapbooking trends I was into or techniques I was trying. How you scrapbook is also a part of your story so it’s fun to look back on those older pages.

  • Sheri Elmont

I think I have those stickers still that you used. I do look at some of my first pages and want to re-do them not necessarily because I don’t like the design, though I don’t, but because they don’t tell any stories, they are just a hodge podge of pics. I’m still thinking on that.

  • Alice Boll

Lain I love the message that you share, to embrace where you were at and to NOT re-do an old scrapbook page! I shared this post on the Scrapbook Wonderland Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ScrapbookWonderland/posts/587723181278628

  • LainEhmann

Thanks, Alice! Glad you agree. :)

  • LainEhmann

That’s a good point. I might go back and add stories on the back of the pages, or re-scrap (But not re-do…) I’m keeping those old ones! :)

  • LainEhmann

    YES! I totally agree.

  • LainEhmann

That’s for sure! I love that feeling!

  • Julie Scales

Thank you for answering my question! I will leave well enough alone and move on! Clsiming my prize.. is it too late??
