Timely episode as I am headed out for a weekend long crop next Friday! I was wondering…do most folks only take 1 of the monthly kit sized kits on a full weekend crop? That doesn’t sound like enough variety but maybe I’m just making it too hard.
I will second the idea of making up page kits. I did that last time I did this retreat and it worked really well. The other thing I did was made sure I had a rock solid idea I was really excited about for a layout and that’s what I started with that weekend. It was one of my more involved ideas and it took most of Friday night but it got the mojo flowing and I’m going to try that same strategy again this time. I think I’m going to do some cards though so it doesn’t take the whole evening! Although…I still LOVE that layout. :)
    Love this series Lain. Thanks!

I think it depends on how fast you crop. I easily get 5-6 layouts from one Gossamer Blue kit, plus a few cards. I scrapbook fast, so I’d need a couple of kits for a weekend. I like the idea of having an idea in mind to get going! :)

Yes I organize my own kits plus photo’s in plastic pockets before I go for retreats { about 10 of them}. I take extra photo”s in case I get around to it and I have plenty of left overs in my kits.

Thank you Laid for answering my question! I will be able to test my kit making skills at the end of the month when I attend a crop, the the hardest will be limiting my tools. I will keep reminding myself that crafters like to share and someone will lend me a different and fun border bunch!

I really liked you suggestions on packing for a crop. That’s how I usually try to do it. My biggest problem is when it comes to journaling. Do you have any suggestions for those of us who are not story tellers??

  • LainEhmann

Great question, Dee! I’ll add it to the list. :)

  • LainEhmann

Let us know how it goes! If you have friends who are going, you can arrange to split up the tools beforehand. :)

    Great idea!
