Embellish Your Own Buttons

by Lain Ehmann on June 20, 2011

I got to chatting with some folks on Twitter last week about my dislike of square buttons (long story). That devolved into a discussion of buttons in general, and as they are one of my favorite scrapbooking supplies, I had a lot to say on the subject! I was asked about how I create my own embellished buttons, and today’s post is just one of the simple simple SIMPLE ways you can jazz up your buttons. Check out the video and then read on for more!

Here’s a close-up of the layout I created with the buttons. I have to admit, it was a bit strange to try to create a layout around three buttons! :)

And a close-up of the buttons themselves:

Hope you like it!

Here are some of the products I used:

Sakura Gel Souffle Pen in White

American Crafts Essentials buttons

Patterned paper is Scenic Route (sad face)

Bakers Twine is from Divine Twine

P.S. Do you like buttons? Square? Round? Do you have to add thread or are you okay with “naked” buttons? Do tell!

Great idea! Love the layout – the title set up, journaling, the heart, it all fits together perfectly. I like round buttons… I do thread and no thread both, it depends on the project and how close I am to being done with said project.

Thank you so much, Gretchen! I had to work around the buttons, which was kind of a strange approach, but I was very pleased with it in the end!
