I am taking the BPS class Textuality, so I have been using journaling more and using as a design element, because of this class. It is fun to journal the story first, then do the layout. I never used to do that, but this class has changed my thoughts on that. Now to think of a story I have wanted to tell.

This is right up my alley…I always (well, almost always) start with my journaling and fit my layout around it…yayyyy, fun challenge for me!

I use to write a ton, but I hate my handwriting (still) and I think using the computer is a pain in the butt because of trying to color match the paper and the font ink. I’ll do something different today some how. This WILL be my biggest challenge so far. :)

Another GREAT challenge! I am all over the board with journaling. I really don’t like my handwriting so I rarely will use it but I am try to use it a bit more so my girls can see it in the future, terrible handwriting and misspells included! : ) This is definitely an area I want to improve going forward so I will start today…..now to think of something……

For me journaling is 98% handwritten, to lazy to go to the computer and print it off ten times to get it jsut the write size. Usually free form, no lines. I LOVE Making Memories spiral journaling books and use these mainly. I start with the photos or the story. Make room for photos first, then the story, lastly the embellishments.

Yeah!!! I love to journal and tell the stories and I think the layouts I’ve been posting so far on my construction album are perfect examples of it!!! Whoo hoo for the Words!!!

I’ve been answering all these questions in my blogposts. This is great for blog fodder!

My pages always start with the story. But since I am such a visual person the story starts with photos! Sometimes the title and photos tell enough of the story that I don’t add much other journaling. But sometimes the photos need some explanation so I give it. I use journaling in all ways: as design elements, as in-your-face text blocks and as subtle blurbs. I’ve been holding off on the journaling for my Week in the Life project just because there is sooo much. I think today is the day to tackle it!

I love words, but don’t use them as effectively as I imagine I could. I tend to shorten up my story to fit it in the space I am handwrititng it. And I hand write because I don’t want the effort of working with the computer. Lots of time I have the story in mind and still short change it. I have been adding more journal blocks as part of the design to write on. So if it’s amll – then small story, etc. BUT, I have a great childhood story I want to tell and I just took pix of the subject when I found the subject in a childhood pix the other day. Great timing!

Like Jenny, I am also taking BPS’s Textuality class. I always concentrated on doing journaling last (wherever I could fit it on my page); however, the Textuality class taught me to do the journaling first so that’s what I’ve been doing on my layouts these past few weeks.
