Combine all those together and you can bet that I’m in seventh heaven.
Yeah, the rumors are true… I’ll be teaching a two-day FREE scrapbooking class on May 19-20 on CreativeLIVE.com.
If you’re not familiar with the site, CreativeLIVE broadcasts awesome business, photography, and now crafting classes to an international audience, for free, LIVE (get that from the name — LIVE?) over the internet. They kicked off their scrapbooking classes with Becky Higgins last fall, and I’m absolutely thrilled to have been asked to teach on one of my favorite topics… imperfection.
Actually, they asked me what I wanted to teach and that’s what I chose. It’s a topic I feel passionate about — we hamper ourselves so much when we strive for perfection and then hold ourselves in low regard when we can’t live up to the air-brushed pseudo-reality we see around us. And this is just as true in scrapbooking as it is in other areas of our lives. So, let me introduce:
On May 19-20, I’ll teach you how to:
-Uncover your true motivations for scrapbooking (it’s usually not about the products — or the photos!)
-Practice story-based scrapbooking
-Use your smart phone camera to get photos you love AND that reflect REAL LIFE
-Embrace the craziness of your life that makes you and your family unique — and that breathes spirit and energy into your scrapbook pages
After spending two days with me, you’ll love your pages and your albums — and your memories — even more!
Are you ready to sign up to join us? (Did I say it’s free?) Just go here –> YES, I’M IN!
The photo above was taken last week when an amazing photographer Andrew and my CL producer, Elizabeth, came to visit on a very snowy day. We laughed and laughed – it was so very fun! I kind of like being a diva and have them check the lighting and make sure my hair is all in place (good luck with that one – at one point Andrew was tempted to use some gaffer’s tape to hold down my curls that kept springing free!).
The funniest part was when they moved the sofa to get better light and underneath we discovered five marbles, a Skittles wrapper, and some popcorn. So much for the perfect housekeeping! (They told me about one teacher they went to film who had her husband re-grout the kitchen before they arrived. I said, “Re-grouting, and I couldn’t even be bothered to vacuum under the couch! Although I did make sure the guest bathroom had toilet paper…”) Such is my life.
Anyway, I would love to have you join us in May. It’s fun. It’s free. It’s inspirational. And there will quite possibly be popcorn.
P.S. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, or can get there for two days of filming, I’d LOVE to have you apply to be in our live studio audience! Lots of goodies to be had – plus I’ll give ya a huge hug. Here’s where you can submit your info –> Apply to Join Lain Live!
