Friday Free-For-All: Copic Coloring

by Lain Ehmann on June 17, 2011

I’ve decided to make Friday a free-for-all. Who knows what you might find: Links to my fave non-scrappy products, a glimpse into my “outer” world, a card idea, stamping… you’ll just have to tune in to find out!

As you may have heard, I’ve been bitten by the Copic bug. I created a short video on YouTube called Copics for Scrapbookers: Why Copics? to help you figure out what the big deal is about these special (and kinda pricey!) pens. I received some fantastic feedback and some requests for coloring/blending videos, so here’s my first go-round. I know, it’s a little dark. Still figuring out the lighting in my scrapbook room!

Here’s a close-up of the card I created with the stamped and colored image:

That is all. :)

Thanks for this series. I’m still trying to decide if I want to fall into the copic rabbit hole! I’m not very artistic and the markers are pricey, but I love the cards others turn out with them.

That’s a tough one as it’s hard to do a “little” bit of Copic… let me think if I have some suggestions about that… stay tuned!

I read somewhere – and totally have no clue where – that the Bic Mark-It markers can be used in a similar fashion to Copics. I *believe* both are alcohol based inks, and the key to blending is the way alcohol interacts with the previously applied ink and with the paper.

I haven’t tried using my Bic markers  yet to prove this possibility….

    Hmmm…. I have the Mark-Its and will give it a try! :)
