Ep 68 Simple Scrapbooking Podcast: Cre8time

by Lain Ehmann on March 20, 2013

Layout a Day podcastThe other day I treated you to a sneak peek of a new social media/community site for crafters, Cre8time.org. Now I’ve got the scoop straight from the head honcho’s mouth. Please welcome Andrej Suskavcevic! Andrej is the CEO and president of the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA). In this exclusive interview, Andrej and I chat about:

  • Why crafting is so important to a person’s wellbeing
  • How the CHA foundation is supporting and celebrating a variety of crafting through the Cre8time site
  • How crafters just like you and me can get involved

We also answer that age-old question… Do real men knit? (YES!)

Take a listen and then head back here to tell me what YOU think about Cre8time.

    YEAH!! to CHA for taking the lead on this movement! Such terrific materials and resources laid out for us to take advantage of. I LOVE that Andrej relates the Cre8time movement to so many parts of our lives, not just crafting. Maybe it’s time with the kids, or parents, or walking the beach . . . REALLY taking the time to examine our priorities and scheduling appropriate time for them. Of course, my Cre8time needs to be crafting {wink, wink!}

    Andrej sounds like he’s really grasped the benefits of crafting. I love his enthusiasm!

    Now that he’s tackled knitting, I think it’s time he moved on to the REAL stuff… Scrapbooking! ;)

    I also love how it’s broken down to just minutes a day. Makes it very doable!

    This was a great podcast. I’ve been feeling blah about scrapbooking which translates into not doing anything. I’ve been following Noell Hyman’s challenge about completing a scrapbooking–well, not actually doing, just reading. So reading her series coupled with listening to this show motivated me to get started again. I’ve been avoiding finishing an album because I just wasn’t feeling it. I went through all the pages I’ve completed, wrote those down, and then wrote a list of stories I hadn’t told that I want to tell. And suddenly its been easy to carve out the time to work on the album. I’m grabbing a few minutes here to edit and prepare the photos, then another few minutes later to print them. Later I quickly pick out the paper. And in the evening I sit down and watch something while I put together a page or two. I’m trying not to overthink it and instead concentrate on the storytelling and appreciating the boost I get from being creative every day. Thanks for this!
