Scrapbook Improv – October 2012

by Lain Ehmann on October 25, 2012

Last night was another amazing episode of Scrapbook Improv, sponsored by Gossamer Blue!

If you’re not familiar with how it works, here’s the lowdown:

I create scrapbook pages in 30 minutes or less, guided by input from the viewers and my diabolical spinner. There’s no telling what will happen… I may have to add another photo at the last minute, stop using my trimmer, or (the hardest yet!) use only washi tape for adhesive…

Oh, and it’s all broadcast live on Ustream!

Last night, we had some craziness happening. I was writing haiku, scrapping my pet peeve, and more. Three layouts in just over 90 minutes — in the words of Adam Sandler, “Not too shabby!” And several audience members joined in the fun and games and created layouts of their own — yeehaw!

If you missed last night’s festivities, I did record it this time, so you can watch the replay.

I wanted to share the results with you here:

Journaling: Computer-generated

Embellishment: Washi *wasabi* Tape

Technique: Stamping

Supply Notes: “Always Playful” stamp from Autumn Leaves. Washi (wasabi) tape source unknown. Ink Stampin’ Up! Everything else from the Gossamer Blue kit.

Layout #2: “PET PEEVE”

Topic: “Pet Peeve”

Supply Notes: Heidi Swapp color magic border from Gossamer Blue’s September kit. Patterned paper from Studio Calico. Ink: Stampin’ Up! Stamp set unknown. All other products from Gossamer Blue’s October kit.

Layout #3: “THEN AND NOW”

Topic: “Then and Now”

Journaling: Rhyming

Embellishment: Button

Technique: Inking/Distressing

Added Challenge: Paint!

Supply Notes: White paint from Reeves. Corner punch from EK Success. Washi (wasabi) tape unknown. Bling from Kaiser Craft (colored with Copics to match the teal). All other supplies from Gossamer Blue’s October kit.

Whew. That was a fun one but I must admit I was so revved up I had trouble falling asleep!

THANK YOU to all who attended, as well as our sponsor Gossamer Blue. Here’s what the whole October kit looks like:

I believe it’s now out of stock, which is a bummer but one lucky Scrapbook Improv viewer received a complimentary kit!

We’ll be doing it again next month – hope you’ll join us!

P.S. The next Scrapbook Improv is scheduled for November 28, at 8PM Eastern on Ustream!

You didn’t announce the winner here?

  • Lain Chroust Ehmann

It will be on the Facebook page shortly – been at conferences and appointments for the kids all day! ;)

I watched the replay last night – wow! I am stunned at how easily you seemed to create 3 LOs just like that! I was especially inspired by the “just make it work” attitude, the original teal PP didn’t work so you just made it work! (I would have been back in my paper collection finding something else for sure). Inspiring! Thank you!

Like you, my life is crazy right now so I just got a chance to look at this post. I have to tell you that your “Then and Now” layout is breathtaking! The colors are so vibrant and the layout’s simplicity just says WOW to me! I know I will be scraplifting that one for sure! :-)

thank you SO much, Cathy! I really appreciate that. :)

Hey Jodie! It’s tough to move past the “lack of perfection” in the moment, but over time I learned that even though I may not love it while I’m creating it, more often than not it comes out okay! :)

I watched this last week! It was so much more fun than I thought to watch. You are very creative (and your daughter is adorable)!

  • Carol in the Land of Oz

I love how Callie just sat there waiting patiently, watching you create. Wow, I think if I organized my room and could move through it a little more easily–I could scrap faster. I love how you make it work instead of agonizing over the details! Go Lain.

  • Lain Chroust Ehmann

    Awww, thank you! :)

That is so true! I think I need a t-shirt that says, “Make It Work.” ;)
