Using Up Scraps: A Scraplifted Layout

by Lain Ehmann on April 15, 2013

I was on a roll this weekend! I created about seven layouts, including this one I scraplifted from Blue Star Design. scrapbooking ideas for kids

I love the way the original layout used up a lot of fun scraps to create a mat for the photos. I thought it would be perfect for these two pictures I have of my sister and me from the 1970s.

I grabbed a bunch of patterned papers from my scrap bin and cut them to 3×3″. Then I arranged them, matted the photos, and cut the title using my Silhouette. A little journaling, stamping of the dates, and voila! A simple scrapbooking layout using heritage photos and scraps. I love having this layout completed and these photos scrapped.

So what are the oldest photos you’ve scrapped lately?

P.S. Link up your layout with your older photos in the comments below! We wanna see. :)

I have not done very many old photos, but I am going to do an 8×8 album over the next few months to give to my husband for his 40th birthday. That will have pictures from the 70′s in it.

What a fabulous idea!! I must lift this layout :-)
I have already scrapped heritage photos and chilhood photos of everyone from my grandma to my son. Now I’m working on 2006 photos. I know that’s not very “old”, but it seems like a century ago to me! ;-)

I like that you pulled these out of the scrap drawer and the look so good together!

Thanks, Kathy! A lot of them are double-sided, so that makes it easier to match.

Very fun! Can’t wait to see! Are you going to use “vintage” color papers or stick with something neutral?

  • Jennifer G.

I am thinking vintage/muted tones will work well. I think that I will love using these colors with vintage photos. What do you think? I am also a huge fan of the old Creative Memories Dusky and Vintage 12×10 paper packs, of which I have quite a bit, for older photos. I used some of those several years ago on some family photo pages from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

I love these colors! They look “retro” but not dated. Can’t wait to see the finished project!
